Chalobah Set to Step in for Guehi in England Selection

Trevoh Chalobah in action

The Chelsea star emulated his brother Nathaniel in playing for England, emerging as the 21st pair of brothers to be selected for the national team.

Trevoh Chalobah is expected to link up with the Three Lions selection to cover for injured Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old footballer is set to join the national side for England's final World Cup qualifying matches against Albania and Serbia, although it has still not been made public.

The national side have already qualified for next summer's World Cup.

Chalobah earned his maiden invitation under England head coach Thomas Tuchel in the month of May and then played his first game against the Senegalese team.

In September, Tuchel stated Chalobah was unfortunate to be excluded from the squad for qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia, and additionally omitted him for the subsequent October international break.

Tuchel has been an important presence in Chalobah's development, having given him his Chelsea debut in the year 2021.

Chalobah has appeared in nearly all fixtures for Chelsea in the current campaign, with the club third in the English top flight, in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals and in the group stage of the Champions League.

Guehi sustained a foot injury in Crystal Palace's Europa Conference League win over AZ Alkmaar last week.

There are expected to be additional inclusions to the squad. Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe has said that both winger Anthony Gordon (hip) and goalkeeper Nick Pope (a concussion) will be unavailable from the national team.
